Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court wants a report regarding Imran Khan’s facilities in Adiala Jail. This report should cover the last 2 weeks. The report should indicate what Khan received within acceptable international norms and prison policies. The court directed that a copy of this report be sent to the petitioner’s attorneys.
After rescheduling the hearing date to August 22.
NAB Forms Prosecution Team for Ongoing Cases
This comes as NAB has set up a prosecution team for its ongoing cases against Imran Khan as well as Bushra Bibi involving Toshakhana case. NAB has appointed Special Prosecutor Barrister Umar Majeed Malik and Raafi Maqsood as their counsel in Toshakhana case. After Acting Prosecutor General NAB Akbar Tarar’s recommendation, the NAB Chairman approved the appointment. NAB headquarters issued a notification confirming these appointments.
Punjab Government Challenges Transfer Orders
The Punjab government has filed an intra-court appeal against an order passed by a single bench which imposed fine of Rs200,000 each on applications seeking transfer of cases relating to Imran Khan, PTI founder. They submitted that the single bench had failed in dismissing the applications correctly and without proper evaluation of facts having substantial impact on them. The state prayed that it should quash the fines levied by such single bench.
Anti-Terrorism Court Postpones Hearing
In relation to Imran Khan’s bail applications in eight cases, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) postponed the hearing until August 8 from May 9th. The police have, therefore, been directed by the court to bring the entire file before the next hearing date. Besides, two teams of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have interrogated the accused in the new Toshakhana reference; the investigation will end today while they are still under physical remand for ten days. On August 8, the court will hear their case after the expiry of their remand period.
