China has just completed the largest test of driverless cars on its roads. This is a major milestone in the country’s drive to bring advanced technology into everyday life.

500 Driverless Taxis Deployed in Wuhan

According to unfamiliar media reports, 500 driverless taxicabs have been transported in Wuhan. These taxicabs are operated by PC frameworks alone, with few to no human drivers. The test aims to demonstrate the capabilities and safety of autonomous vehicles in a real-world urban setting.

More Driverless Vehicles Planned for Expansion

According to the report, the company behind this experiment plans to expand its fleet further. The following month, another 1,000 driverless vehicles will be introduced. This move is anticipated to demonstrate that self-driving technology can be implemented on a large scale and accelerate its adoption.

Testing Across Chinese Cities

Wuhan is not alone in allowing companies to test their autonomous vehicles on public roads—over 16 cities across China have issued such permits. In addition, around 19 Chinese automakers are participating in these trials to launch self-driving cars globally.
