Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, the Chief Justice Lahore High Court, gave a speech highlighting the judiciary’s importance and the need to recognize it as an institution in the legal system.
In his address, Chief Justice Khan underscored how committed the judiciary is to impartiality and justice. He said that it does not want any conflict with anyone but expects mutual respect. He also gave weight on judicial independence where applause should come from both hands.
Speaking at Punjab Judicial Academy, while addressing a gathering. Chief Justice Lahore High Court shed light on some of these challenges faced by justice delivery system in Punjab province which include over 1.4 million cases pending before courts and shortage of judges among others . According him speedy disposal and equality of access to all people regardless their social economic status are necessary for ensuring fair trial s in our justice systems.
While commending lawyers’ integrity, whom he has confidence in due to their professionalism. He reiterated the abolition of strike actions because they hinder the speedy dispensation of justice. Which may lead us into lawlessness if not controlled well enough by authorities concerned with such matters.
Furthermore, CJ khan highlighted need for collective involvement from various actors. Including advocates themselves who should work hand in glove with other stakeholders towards the realization of better legal systems reforms that benefit society at large rather than individual gains alone
His Excellency also emphasized equity within our judicial institutions, pointing out that nobody should feel excluded when it comes to rights safety, specially the ones who’ve been marginalized or disenfranchised. He introduced more weight to this through pronouncing, “We will maintain to preserve anyone equally responsible earlier than the regulation, regardless of their status, electricity, or wealth.
