Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Economic Challenges

Islamabad: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has said that resolving issues without a Charter of Economy is impossible.

During the National Assembly

During the National Assembly consultation on the budget, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that humans are interested in bread, clothing, and haven and in reducing poverty and inflation. The public hopes that we will set aside personal issues.

He mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif talked about the Charter of Economy and that problems cannot be solved without it. If a National Economic Charter is to be created, everyone must be consulted, including people on both sides sitting here. Solutions derived from political consultation are better.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that the opposition should have been invited, too. If we had consulted, we would have achieved political and economic victories. Pakistan’s economic conditions are no secret to anyone.

The PPP Chairman expressed hope that the Prime Minister’s team and they together will lift the country out of these conditions. In the elections, the most significant economic issue was inflation. During our campaign, people asked me about the economic conditions five years ago and now. The Prime Minister discussed the Charter of Economy, emphasizing that no external source can dictate it.

He mentioned that inflation increases yearly, and we know how the commoner bears the economic burden. The government is attempting to combat inflation and pull the United States of America out of the financial disaster.

Income Support Program

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the price range for the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has multiplied by 27%. BISP is critical in casting off poverty in the U.S. Pakistan has succeeded in introducing a plan that is also being used abroad. Recently, India presented a strategy similar to BISP in its elections. In the past, we knew that some targeted our successes under the name of the Bajwa Doctrine.

The PPP Chairman said that the party’s political philosophy believes in taxation. Although they claim to impose taxes on the rich and not the needy, they have yet to succeed. The previous government focused on using NAB and FIA to achieve targets. If this government adopts the same approach, it will fail. We need to introduce a successful policy that increases taxes and revenue.

He mentioned that their party contested elections based on a public economic agreement. Before moving forward, we should fulfill old promises. The Prime Minister included some of their points in his initial speech, but they have not implemented them yet. They have also not abolished seventeen to eighteen ministries yet.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said they had proposed direct subsidies for farmers from companies. The government provides billions in subsidies to fertilizer companies. The Prime Minister should take steps to counter these big lobbies. The PPP stands with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in countering these lobbies.

The PPP Chairman mentioned that from 2008 to 2013, they created the most jobs and increased exports. They invested in agriculture, and farmers lifted the economy from the bottom. President Zardari transformed Pakistan from a rice importer to an exporter. Even today, we need to support farmers.

He said our neighboring country supports its farmers with billions of rupees. If we provide even half the support to our farmers, we can compete with our neighbors. With the support of farmers, we can also highlight the global food security crisis.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that this budget decides how to burden farmers further. Due to the caretaker government, farmers have suffered losses, and they will likely continue to suffer. By supporting the agricultural sector, we can achieve good results.

PPP Chairman

The PPP Chairman mentioned that climate change is a significant issue today and in the future. The people of Pakistan suffer from heat waves and floods, and the world is concerned about climate change. After the North and South Poles, the largest ice reserves are in our northern areas. Pakistan is known as the third pole. The world needs to know what will happen when the ice in our mountains melts.

He emphasized that we need to take climate change seriously. Investing today will save us in the future. If we do not act, future generations will question why we did nothing despite knowing the danger. Strong lobbies regarding solar energy exist in our country. The Prime Minister should take a personal interest in solar energy. We need to focus on domestic energy instead of imported and hydro energy.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that such projects can provide relief to the public. If the federal government is ready, it can work with all provinces. Nevertheless, he cannot guarantee that the electricity load-shedding in his constituency will be less than eighteen hours. We need to make bureaucrats in Islamabad aware of the realities of the situation.

The PPP Chairman said that taxing children’s milk could be the suggestion of a bureaucrat, not a politician. Similarly, taxing stationery will make education challenging to obtain. At the end of his speech, he thanked the federal government.
