Atta Tarr, the Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture of Pakistan, said his country would continue to stand by the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and their right to self-determination. Accordingly, Tarar insisted that global leaders address human rights abuses in India. He lamented the shoddy response from all corners of the world concerning what has been happening since 5 August 2019, when India changed its constitutional status illegally, thus increasing tensions amid greater concerns over human rights.
The minister pleaded that global leaders and organizations proactively approach this problem. He explained that while Pakistan keeps raising its concerns and others have them within themselves, only the international community’s support is important to secure justice and peace. We must coordinate a global effort to stop human rights violations and ensure Kashmiris’ voices are heard.
Pakistan’s Solidarity with Kashmir
Tarar’s comments also reflected a broader commitment within Pakistan to the cause of Kashmir. He said that Pakistan will always be a strong advocate for the people of Jammu and Kashmir at both national and international levels.
