Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information, Atta-Tarad, has announced that the government’s three-member committee is ready to negotiate with Jamaat-e-Islami.

While addressing a press conference along with Ameer Maqam, the Federal Minister for Information, Atta-Tarad highlighted the enthusiastic speech of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a recent rally. Ali Amin Gandapur assured cooperation during the meeting despite his challenges, such as answering questions about Adiala Jail. Tarar pointed out the conflicting statements from their side: on the one hand, they claim to prevent operations, and on the other, they vow not to allow anyone to monopolize power.

Tarar accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of bringing back terrorists and raised concerns about a major scandal involving tree cutting in Battagram, where the timber mafia is operating with the involvement of a minister close to Ali Amin Gandapur. He criticized the contradictory statements of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and demanded clarification on the actions taken against the timber mafia.
Jamaat-e-Islami and Public Convenience
Atta-Tarad mentioned that Jamaat-e-Islami was granted permission for a rally and sit-in at Liaquat Bagh, with all arrangements settled with the administration. He expressed frustration over frequent traffic jams in Islamabad caused by various groups, which create difficulties for the public.
Economic Reforms and Public Relief
The Federal Minister for Information underscored the government’s readiness to form a negotiating team and urged Jamaat-e-Islami to engage in talks. He highlighted the benefits of the economic reforms agenda, including a 50 billion rupee subsidy on electricity bills, which would benefit everyone.
He reiterated that providing relief to the public is a priority for the government. The Prime Minister works tirelessly, even up to twenty hours daily, to address the country’s challenges. When the current government took over, the country was on the verge of default, but they managed to save it. He also mentioned attempts to sabotage the IMF agreement through letters.
Economic Stability and International Relations
Atta Tarar expressed gratitude for the stabilizing value of the rupee and the decrease in inflation compared to the previous year. He highlighted improved relations with friendly countries and successfully finalizing the agreement with the IMF. The stock market is showing signs of improvement, reflecting positive economic trends.
Appeal for Peaceful Protest
The Federal Minister for Information emphasized the importance of not disrupting the lives of ordinary citizens. He urged Jamaat-e-Islami to engage in talks rather than pursuing resistance politics. He assured a three-member committee, including Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Ameer Maqam. And himself, will listen to Jamaat-e-Islami’s stance and negotiate in good faith.
He further insisted that Jamaat-e-Islami hold a peaceful rally at Liaquat Bagh for the country’s integrity. Whenever Jamaat-e-Islami signals readiness, the government’s three-member team will initiate talks. He clarified that no permission would be granted for a protest at D-Chowk due to the potential for miscreants to disrupt peace and order.

Ameer Maqam, a leader of PML-N, addressed Ali Amin Gandapur’s allegations, stating that there is no ongoing operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as suggested. He questioned the whereabouts of the dollars received from America, urging accountability from Ali Amin Gandapur and Pervez Khattak. And Mahmood Khan, who was in power then.
He called on Ali Amin Gandapur to seek answers from his leader in Adiala Jail. He emphasized that maintaining law and order is essential.
