Police have arrested Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66 years old, from Cochise County, Arizona, for allegedly making death threats against former President Donald Trump. The arrest came after a search while Trump was in the state.
Threats and Manhunt Arizona
Over the past two weeks, Syvrud is alleged to have made threats on social media against Trump. The previous president went to Cochise County on Thursday as part of his ongoing political activities, visiting the US-Mexico border. Syvrud’s threats led to significant police activity.
Last month in Butler, Pa., where a bullet grazed him, Trump survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally. Security has been tightened since then.
Legal Issues of Syvrud Arizona
The Sheriff’s Office of Cochise County has said that Syvrud also faces legal problems besides threats. He is wanted for no longer registering as a sex wrongdoer. He has multiple warrants out for his arrest in Wisconsin and Arizona, such as prices of riding beneath the effect and legal hit-and-run.
According to reviews, Benson is ready 50 miles southeast of Tucson. On Thursday afternoon inside that county, the sheriff’s workplace said that Syvrud had been taken into custody without incident.
Trump’s Response
While at Cochise County, Trump blamed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris for allowing illegal immigration into the U.S. When asked if he knew about Syvrud being sought in a search later that day by reporters , Trump said, “No, I haven’t heard it, but I’m not surprised terrible things for bad people.”
Threats Against Public Figures
This event comes amid a broader threat landscape against politicians this election cycle; earlier this month, a 66-year-old Virginia resident was arrested on suspicion of making death threats against Vice President Kamala Harris and other officials.
