ANP Opposes Operation Azm-e-Istehkam in KP

The Awami National Party (ANP) has openly opposed Operation Azm-e-Istehkam. The party’s Central President, Aimal Wali Khan, expressed that their party will support no military operationall legislative bodies such as the National Assembly, Senate and all stakeholders are confident.

Aimal Wali Khan criticized PTI MNAs for staging dramas in the National Assembly to deceive the Pashtun people. In his response, he demanded why the National Action Plan (NAP) has yet to be implemented.
He asked if anyone asked questions regarding the resettlement of terrorists. Who was responsible or rewarded for this process? All these things were done under PTI’s approval, which, according to him, will further destabilize Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Main Opposition Points Raised By ANP:

Consensus Building: Aimal Wali Khan made it clear that ANP would support any operation only if discussed threadbare in all assemblies, senate, and with all relevant stakeholders— stressing upon collective decision-making so that none of the actions taken could be termed as illegal or against the interest of any one region.

PTI’s Criticism: According to him, PTI let this operation happen without proper consultation, which means they took this decision carelessly, knowing it may create more trouble for KPK in particular. He also accused PTI MNAs of misleading Pashtun people through their acts on the floor of the house.

Aimal Wali Khan questioned why authorities had not fully implemented NAP. He demanded an explanation from the government regarding its incomplete implementation, questioning their seriousness towards counter-terrorism measures and national security concerns. He emphasized the need for accountability in the resettlement process, particularly for individuals convicted or charged under various terrorism-related laws.

Impact On KP: The leader of ANP showed great concern over possible negative impacts that may result from undertaking such a move within the KPK service. He criticized approximations that can further turn the regions into volatile and insecure areas. In his words, whenever we make these decisions without proper consultation, we should be ready for their dire consequences as far as the safety of lives is concerned, especially in this part of Pakistan.

ANP’s opposition to Operation Azm-e-Istehkam demonstrates their demand for openness and inclusiveness when dealing with matters touching on national security. Aimal Wali Khan’s emphasis on accountability coupled with wide-ranging consultations reflects party’s commitment to safeguard Pashtun interests while ensuring all security measures benefit entire region. ANP opposes anything that might jeopardize peace within KP, thus it must safeguard its people at all costs.
