ANF Seizes 37kg of Drugs in Nationwide Raids

 

Over 10 operations were carried out by the ANF to combat drug smuggling in the entire country. And this led to notable seizures and arrests.

More than 37 kilograms of narcotics worth almost Rs.700 million were seized during these operations, said an ANF spokesperson. Furthermore, around fifteen people suspected of being involved in the illegal trade were apprehended while conducting these raids.

Major Busts Across Pakistan

The count included several major busts at airports. At Islamabad Airport, a passenger who had arrived from Nigeria had 7.5 kilogrammes of cannabis in their possession. Similarly, a traveller going to Qatar at Peshawar Airport was nabbed with 980 grams of methamphetamine (also referred to asIcee). In addition, another person travelling to Qatar via Karachi Airport was halted with 402 grams ofIcee before he boarded his flight. And at Lahore Airport, another traveller who was also boarding a plane bound for Saudi Arabia was arrested with 150 grams of narcotic pills on him.

In a significant operation along GT Road in Nowshera, for instance, two individuals were arrested together with 2.4 kilograms of opium, six kilograms of heroin, hashish weighing 1.2 kilograms and three kilogramsIcee, respectively. Also, four other suspects on M-1 Motorway near Islamabad were found carrying 140 grams of opium, 150 grams of heroin, and hashish taxing up to 1.2 kg and 1.1 kg of ice, respectively. Similarly located further south in Quetta. Ten kilos of heroine were discovered by two anonymous men while four others contained two kilos ofIcee.

Local Drug Busts in Karachi

One more operation around universities in Karachi saw one suspect captured after holding approximately ninety-eight (98) grammes hashish plus twenty (20) grammesIcee. As such, this demonstrates the continuing effort to eliminate drug trade within urban areas.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

an ANF spokesperson has confirmed that all these arrested suspects are facing charges under the Anti-Narcotics Act. Currently, investigations are ongoing to reveal the whole smuggling network and bring all culprits to book.

These successful operations indicate ANF’s determination against drug trafficking and the availability of illicit substances in Pakistan. Drug menace is one of the most disturbing problems here. While ANF keeps playing a very crucial role in curbing narcotics use in Pakistan.
