National Assembly Committee Chairpersons

 

The process for appointing chairpersons of the standing committees in the National Assembly of Pakistan has entered its third day of discussion and selection. Selection Process and Significance

The chairpersons of the standing committees are appointed through deliberations among political party representatives in parliament. These committees are essential in ensuring accountability within ministries and departments while proposing necessary legislation if necessary. Each committee has specific responsibilities based on its area of focus, which could range from economic affairs or law to energy and environmental coordination.

Ray Hassan Nawaz – Chairman, Railway Committee

Ray Hassan Nawaz, appointed chairman today, will now head the National Assembly Railway Committee. This committee’s core mandate is overseeing development and management-related matters concerning Pakistani railway infrastructure, such as operations safety or even expansion.

Khawaja Shiraz Mahmood – Chairman, Ministry of Science and Technology Committee

The Ministry of Science & Technology committee got a new chairman in person Khawaja Shiraz Mahmood, who took over the leadership position from his predecessor yesterday afternoon following the successful completion of an open competitive recruitment exercise conducted by a government agency responsible for appointments into public service offices at the national level based on merit system principles which include equal opportunities without discrimination whatsoever towards any individual regardless their race color religion sex age disability marital status sexual orientation political affiliation or other grounds protected under international human rights laws ratified by Pakistan during past years.

Muhammad Atef – Chairman, Economic Affairs Division Committee

Since yesterday evening, Muhammad Atef has served as the new chairman of the Economic Affairs Division Committee (EADC) after President Islamic Republic Of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain appointed him under Article 90, subsection 2, item 1, subsection a, clause bii, subclause ci of the constitution.
