Some of the most awaited and critically praised immersive reality equipment, the apple vision pro headset has so far failed to deliver. After the initial buzz, the device’s exorbitant cost and how it sits on the head have buried many attempts to incorporate this device into everyday life. The enthusiasm for the vision pro was so great at the beginning but this has seen a decline that now raises a lot of concern regarding the prospects of apple in the ar/vr scene.
High interest at launch but quick drop-off Apple
The envious ‘apple’ symbol of the vision pro which arrived on the market in february of 2024 was as much awaited because it was apple’s entrance into yet another product cosm. All the reviewers, in the beginning, were speechless with the new consolidated model that allowed such things as seeing a butterfly or an elephant as if the animal is sitting right in front of the user. Nevertheless, many users lost the awe and wonder of the device and it has not been easy to keep people’s excitement about the device.
Looking back at 2024 reports from as early as april made it apparent that the fizz had died away and commenced coming through. Come july it was apparent that the sales of the device were not able to meet the level of the opening sales.
Within design and pricing issues
The design of the Vision Pro presents a significant roadblock. First, the $3,500 price tag makes the headset very expensive, and early users find it uncomfortable for prolonged wear. For example, nilay patel from the verge reported that there was poor feeling with the vision pro while joanna stern from the wall street newspaper described nausea due to the poor content of apple immersive video.
Patterns of use among macrumors staff
The staff of macrumors, videographer dan barbera, and editor-in-chief eric slivka, among others, purchased the vision pros, but usage for prolonged periods proved cumbersome. Dan uses it now and then for watching content from his device and its preferred usage is about two hours because that is when one starts feeling some discomfort. Other staff members say they mostly leave their headsets inside their cases, using them only for occasional software updates or testing new vision features.
However, people are doubtful about its future flirting with such factors as a bulky structure, high costs, and delicate content, which is not going to be enough in the future. In case apple does not deal with these points, it may hardly succeed in gaining the impetus for further works in virtual and enhanced reality.
