Yacht Sinks Off Sicily Morgan Stanley Chairman Missing

Six people, including Jonathan Bloomer the Chairman of Morgan Stanley International. And Chris Morvillo from Clifford Chance law firm. Have gone missing following a Yacht Sinks on Monday. Sicily’s Civil Protection has described that the thing happened about 700 meters (2,300 ft) offshore as informed by BBC. A British IT magnate Mike Lynch, aged 59 and his eighteen-year-old daughter Hannah are also unaccounted for after what happened.

The Incident and Rescue Efforts Yacht Sinks

Among the passengers were twenty-two individuals hailing from Britain, America, and Canada. This ship sunk at around five in the morning after waterspouts caused by a severe storm capsized it. Out of the 22 occupants, 15 people survived including a one-year-old British girl. The body of one member of staff on board was discovered by search teams who are still looking for something as divers prepare to search the wreckage which is in deep waters approximately 50 meters below sea level.

Details of the Yacht Sinks and Its Passengers 

The registration number given to Bayesian indicated that it was under a British flag when it sank near Palermo’s Porticello harbor. Witnesses said that the yacht had dropped anchor before the storm hit which made its mast break causing it to tip over. Revtom Ltd owned this boat with Angela Bacares as its only legal owner who was Mr Lynch’s wife. He named his yacht “Bayesian” because this was what he wrote his PhD thesis on – Bayes’ theorem.

Autonomy software company founder Mike Lynch (sometimes called “the British Bill Gates”) sold Autonomy to Hewlett Packard (HP) for $11bn (£8.6bn) in 2011. These lawsuits began with HP’s acquisition of Autonomy more than ten years ago but Mr Lynch cleared off all charges related to fraud in America last year.

Survivors’ Accounts

One woman who managed to survive is Mrs. Lynch, Angela Bacares. A British mother who was with her baby daughter. When the accident happened called Charlotte Golunski. After being thrown into the sea. Ms Golunski held her child above water so that she would not drown. The survivors were initially saved by a Dutch-flagged ship located nearby which responded to a red flare sent from their liferaft.

Ongoing Search and Investigation

The Italian authorities have continued searching for any of the missing passengers at the scene of the wreckage near Porticello. This tragedy has been widely discussed both for its suddenness and because it involved people with very high public profiles.
