The Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, has criticized the current government, asking who is in power and what benefits people should expect. He said that the government is not in control of things as it seems, and the country sinks deeper into servitude every day that passes. The leader cited imposing oppressive taxes as one such act, highlighting that even the finance ministers do not genuinely represent the masses. He pointed out that too many ‘fake’ representatives have been elected into assemblies, worsening the country’s situation.
Economic Meltdown and Investment Issues
During a trader convention held at Peshawar. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the national economy had collapsed and no one could bring it back to life. He described the present state of affairs as critical, referencing PM Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China. Sharif went there to invite investment but failed because China reportedly mentioned political instability and weak law & order as the main obstacles to investment attraction. He stated that the public knows these taxes pay off loans rather than support the state’s welfare. He added that the government lacks transparency and that national funds should be spent directly on the people.
Critique of Taxation and Governance
Rehman criticized excessive taxation, noting that only taxes on breathing and death remain unintroduced. He stressed that such a system cannot sustain a country and highlighted that the politicians must manage it effectively. Rehman lamented that even the finance minister is not truly from the people and that unrepresentative individuals occupy the assemblies. He emphasized the importance of peace and economic stability for any nation, stating that effective legislation should safeguard life, property, and dignity.
Religious and National Integrity
Rehman criticized the country’s current state of peace and economic stability. Arguing that the principles on which the country was founded are being neglected. He claimed that the nation is continually defying Allah’s commands. Leading to both a lack of peace and a worsening economic situation. He accused foreign finance ministers of lacking accountability and suggested that Pakistani rulers have arrangements to escape difficulties when they arise. Rehman noted China’s growing economic power and criticized how Pakistan is being dragged into conflicts between major powers. Like the ongoing war between the US and Russia.
Western Agendas and the Palestinian Issue
Rehman also addressed the shifting agendas of the Western world. Which he claimed are now targeting religion, Islam, and religious schools. He reiterated that the issue is not about recognizing Israel but about acknowledging Palestine. Which is a part of Pakistan’s resolution.
