In Lahore, China Consulate General Zhao Shiren and Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Home Minister, had a significant meeting. The meeting revolved around enhancing bilateral business relations and measures for Chinese citizens involved in various projects in Pakistan.
Security Measures for Chinese Citizens
During the meeting, leading a group of Chinese traders, Zhao Shiren re-emphasized the need for technologies to ensure the robust security of all project personnel. The agenda was safety improvement measures that would ensure that such personnel lived without fear or disruption due to insecurity in their workplace.
They presented several recommendations to strengthen the security plan. Listening attentively to what Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi had said, he assured us that these proposals were practical and realizable. This minister stressed that there is nothing more important than the safety of Chinese citizens, with whom he stated his satisfaction over any necessary assistance to run businesses here. He also told the delegation that they do not need to worry about their safety because the government has developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safeguard Chinese people and promote their well-being throughout Pakistan.
Visa Facilitation and Future Cooperation
During this meeting, the Interior Minister announced that from August 14 onwards, China’s citizens will use online applications to obtain visas. This move will facilitate visa processing procedures for Chinese traders, making them smoother and more convenient. He believes this activity is meant to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks and promote smooth business interactions between China and Pakistan.
Positive Bilateral Relations
Beijing Consul General Zhao Shiren praised Pakistan’s strong bilateral relationship with China. He thanked Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his team for supporting and cooperating with him. Zhang expressed optimism about the positive results of the discussion, which will strengthen ties between countries.
