Maryam Nawaz Launches Major Warehouse for Free Medicines

 

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has made history in public service by launching Pakistan’s largest medicine warehouse project. The initiative aims to enhance the distribution of free medications across provincial hospitals significantly.

Launch of the Medicine Warehouse Project

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the Department of Health’s Central Warehouse in Maraka and inaugurated the project designed to streamline the supply of medicines to district hospitals. She emphasized the need to expedite the functionality of medicine warehouses in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan. In Lahore, nine medicine warehouses have become operational, capable of storing over 17 billion rupees worth of medicines and equipment. Maryam Nawaz personally operated a forklift to kick off the project and supervised the dispatch of special trucks carrying medicines to the districts. She also inspected the hospital supplies, medical equipment, and the storage conditions of drugs, including checking their expiry dates and the standard temperature systems.

Secretary of Health Ali Jan Khan briefed that the new, state-of-the-art warehouses will ensure that they store and deliver medicines at standard temperatures. This project established nine central warehouses, which hold approximately 10 billion rupees worth of drugs. Additionally, over 7 billion rupees worth of new and advanced medical equipment, furniture, and disposable bed sheets. Other supplies will be provided to hospitals from these warehouses.

Meetings with the German Ambassador and JC7 Group Chairman

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also met with Alfred Granas, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. She praised the swift action taken by German authorities in response to the recent attack on the Pakistani Embassy in Germany. She hoped the perpetrators would be brought to justice, preventing such incidents. The meeting also focused on enhancing bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and technical education collaboration. Ambassador Granas reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to strengthening ties with Punjab. Fostering cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals and technological advancement. Maryam Nawaz assured full support in providing facilities to German investors and businesses.

Additionally, Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with Maqbool Hussain Awan, Chairman of the JC7 Group. The discussion highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving developmental goals for the province. The two parties explored joint efforts to enhance fundamental infrastructure and enhance the great of existence for human beings. Maqbool Hussain Awan expressed his group’s eagerness to partner with the government to elevate living standards.
