Maryam Nawaz: Ending the Strike
Maryam Nawaz Sharif has called off the strike by the Flour Mills Association. Saying that they will not hold a protest in Punjab against wheat and flour taxes. The decision was made after long talks led by the Chief Minister herself, in which she convinced leaders of the association to reconsider their position. She thanked the association’s chairman and other office bearers for cooperating with her, pointing out that going on strike may lead to wheat shortage & increase bread prices, thus affecting everyday life.
Economic & Environmental Solutions
While addressing economic problems, Maryam Nawaz stressed the vital steps taken towards sustainable development and environment conservation in Punjab. After becoming Chief Minister, the Climate Leadership Development Internship Program was initiated. Monthly scholarships worth Rs 25,000 will be given to selected students who will perform their duties through a dedicated platform for protecting the environment and serving the community.
Internship Program Details
Registrations for the Climate Leadership Development Internship Program are open until July 20th, 2024. It targets youth (18-25 years) who have completed their education and are willing to work voluntarily to improve our surroundings. Upon successful completion, interns will be awarded a Community Service Certificate jointly issued by the Environment Protection Department and the Punjab Higher Education Commission to recognize their efforts favoring ecological balance.
Environmental Advocacy
Efforts should be made collectively against smog, etcetera, by reducing vehicle emissions and smokestacks, as MNS said. At the same time, massive tree plantation campaigns were stressed. Plastic bag usage should also be discouraged. Burning crop residues should be banned because these things significantly pollute the air. Causing environmental degradation, also known as PPDD(Perpetual Pollution Disease).
