Monsoon Alert: Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Punjab, has put the whole province administration on high alert given the likely heavy rains. The Chief Minister instructed that relevant officers should stay in the field until complete drainage; administration and WASA should be proactive. Utilizing all available resources so that no water accumulates on roads for a long time, causing inconvenience to the public and disturbing routine life.

The CM underlined that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) must be implemented to deal effectively with potential flood situations; people’s lives and properties are the government’s responsibility which will be safeguarded at any cost; special care needed regarding the safety of people living in low lying areas and their belongings plus taking preventive steps proactively for protection livestock at rural areas should not be neglected.

The Chief Minister asked members of assembly representatives to keep a close eye on rescue relief operations during possible flood situations. Maryam Nawaz requested that people not allow small children near open wires or poles. Where electricity could pass through them accidentally. Thereby causing injury or death due to shock. In case of any emergency, the Chief Minister will ensure the prompt commencement of rescue and relief works to safeguard and support all affected individuals.
