35 Old Smartphones Losing WhatsApp Support: Time to Upgrade

It would be best to replace your smartphones when they are 9 or 10. Otherwise, these older models will no longer support WhatsApp. Software developers must update their apps with technological advancements to ensure compatibility, security, and performance. Old devices may not support some updates due to hardware limitations or outdated OS.

WhatsApp Stops Supporting Old Models

By ending support for these devices, WhatsApp can concentrate on optimizing its app for the most recent hardware and software platforms.

Phones Affected (WhatsApp)

According to a report, thirty-five phones with the Android or iOS operating systems from Google and Apple will no longer have access to WhatsApp support. This change will influence different gadgets from various makers, reflecting how quickly versatile innovation is progressing.

Reasons for Discontinuation

They are discontinuing support for those old models because they want users to enjoy new features and receive security updates. Security threats keep changing as technology advances, too. For instance, if WhatsApp concentrates more on newer OSes, it can implement more robust protection measures and introduce complex characteristics that cannot work effectively with outdated hardware.

Apple Devices Losing Support

Apple devices such as iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 6S, and iPhone SE will soon be unable to use WhatsApp. Although popular in the past years, these phones now need to fulfill specific technical criteria for the app to operate on them.

Samsung Devices Losing Support

Some Samsung models including Galaxy S Plus, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Express 2, Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Note3 N9005 LTE, Galaxy Note3 Neo LTE Plus, Galaxy SI9500, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Mini I9190, Galaxy S4 Mini I9192 Duos, Galaxy S4 Mini I9195 LTE and Galaxy S4 Zoom will not receive WhatsApp updates anymore as they won’t be able to run them. They are behind several generations since they need more hardware capabilities for future updates.

Motorola Devices Losing Support

WhatsApp will soon become unusable on Motorola’s Moto G and Moto X smartphones. These budget-friendly devices performed well but lacked support to keep up with new mobile technology standards regarding app compatibility like this one.

Huawei Devices Losing Support

Huawei Rise P6 S, Climb G525, Huawei C199, Huawei GS1 S, and Huawei Y625, among others, will lose the capacity to utilize WhatsApp because they can only run the fresher renditions of Android expected by this application during its upkeep.

LG Devices Losing Support

Optimus 4X HD P880, Optimus G, Optimus G Pro, and Optimus L7 from LG are other examples of phones that cannot use WhatsApp anymore because they were made many years ago when Android was still in the early stages of development and therefore lacking the necessary components for running certain WhatsApp features in recent versions such as those related to internet communication protocols used by IMs including voice calling option offered through VoIP services integrated within these apps.

Lenovo Devices Not Getting Support

Five Lenovo phones are also on the chopping block: 46600, A8585 T, P70, S890, and A820. Like many manufacturers, Lenovo has since released several newer models with more advanced technology.

WhatsApp Other Brands Not Getting Support

WhatsApp support will also soon be discontinued for the following brands and models: Fair F1, THL W8, ZTE V956, ZTE UMI X2, ZTE Grand S Flex, ZTE Grand Memo, Archos 53 Platinum, Wiko Cink 5, and Wiko Darknight. These devices cannot effectively run the latest software updates anymore.

iOS Requirements for WhatsApp

iPhone users who want to keep using WhatsApp must have at least iOS version 12 installed. Apple’s newer operating systems have improved security features for running modern apps like this one.

Continuous Improvement of WhatsApp

It is worth mentioning that they are constantly working on making their user interface better and privacy settings stronger too; each update introduces those things along with compatibility fixes between their app’s current build & significant releases from both Apple Inc.’s iOS platform as well Google LLC.’s Android OS environment (amongst other changes). This way, people can send messages more easily while remaining safe — but unfortunately, occasionally, some old gadgets won’t be able to take advantage of these new capabilities anymore, which means they’ll eventually get phased out altogether.
