25 Injured in Wisconsin Apple Orchard Tractor Accident

 

On Wednesday morning, a calamity struck an apple orchard in Chippewa County. Wisconsin and 25 Injured individuals were reported to have been admitted to the hospital. The event transpired when two hay wagons carrying both adults and children crashed.

Incident Details

As per Deputy Chief Cory Jeffers of the Chippewa Fire District. The accident occurred when one of the hay wagons lost its braking ability while coming down the hill. Therefore, the two hay wagons collided due to the loss of control cascading to them. In this case, the orchard was packed, and those sustaining an injury in the ride suffered serious injuries, most so into collision.

Emergency Response and Medical Care

Regarding the event, the officials announced mass casualty triage, a policy used during disasters where a single event causes many injuries. In this protocol, an effective health system is assumed to be established with respect to both health needs and available healthcare resources.

Quick actions by the emergency staff ensured that the 25 injured people were evacuated from the site and taken to different hospitals as soon as possible. Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire cared for seven clients, including some with moderate and severe trauma. Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes also said that three of those hurt were in dire condition. To assist in meeting evacuation needs, a helicopter was also overhead, carrying some seriously injured persons being treated on board.

Deputy Chief Jeffers described how well everyone adapted to the situation by saying. “Everyone was in charge of everything, everybody was on the alert, and everybody performed very well in terms of treating the patients and getting the job done.” This was an important factor in dealing with the situation.

The postpartum program includes child resettlement activities with the involvement of the state authorities. In line with these events, the head of St. Mark Lutheran School, Peter Michaels, mentioned that, when it comes to the children who were involved in the accident, the school was in direct contact with the country sheriff’s department and was working to ensure that the children went back to the caregivers. Michaels further asserts, “Any time we have a hard knock in our activities, we put everything in the safety of our Lord’s hands and do not move a finger without His direction.”
